Dr. Thomas Cudjoe and colleagues selected to receive a 2023 Johns Hopkins Nexus Award-Convening Award

Congratulations to Dr. Thomas Cudjoe and colleagues on their proposal developed in close partnership with the Foundation for Social Connection (Jillian Racoosin, Executive Director), which was selected to receive a 2023 Johns Hopkins Nexus Award-Convening Award. Their proposal “Convening in Our Nation’s Capital to Amplify Global Loneliness Awareness Week 2024” was selected from an impressive pool of 278 applications from faculty across the university. This convening will be held in Washington DC at 555 Pennsylvania Avenue the new home of the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies in the Summer of 2024.

 

Their convening will leverage relationships with national and international partners at the Coalition to End Social Isolation and Loneliness, Foundation for Social Connection, Global Initiative on Loneliness and Connection, Marmalade Trust, Humana’s Far From Alone, Office of the U.S. Surgeon General, and the Administration of Community Living, to mobilize communities across the globe to elevate awareness of the social isolation and loneliness crisis.

Additionally, this convening seeks to facilitate internal awareness and collaboration around social isolation and loneliness working with JHU Affiliated Hosting Partners at the Center for Health Equity (Deputy Director – Deidra Crews), Bloomberg School of Public Health Roger C. Lipitz Center for Integrated Health Care (Director- Jennifer Wolff), Hopkins Disability Health Research Center (Director, Bonnielin Swenor), and Hopkins Population Center (Administrative Core Director, Emily Agree).
