Rasika Mathias, Sc.D., is a genetic epidemiologist who is dedicated to ending health disparities by broadening genetics studies to include diverse populations. Most recently she has turned her focus to better predicting health risks among aging older adults to help ensure that everyone — regardless of race and ethnicity — can stay as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Toward that end, she is revolutionizing the study of telomeres: the protective caps on the ends of our chromosomes that prevent our DNA from deteriorating.
Mathias is the Sarah Miller Coulson CIM Human Aging Project Scholar. Read more about her work: www.hopkinsmedicine.org/news/articles/a-fuller-picture.
